Staff at a Tywyn cinema are hoping to bring some festive cheer by launching a Christmas hamper appeal to provide some food for people in the town who are struggling.
The Magic Lantern Cinema is already opening its doors on Christmas Day to provide lunch for those alone or in need of support, and now they want to offer food hampers as well.
A buffet meal will be provided for those attending the ‘Christmas Presence’ event, and staff would like to donate leftover food and have launched an appeal for boxes and baskets to put it in.
Magic Lantern general manager Sara Waddington said: “On Christmas Day we will make up as many hampers as possible and anyone, whether they come to the Christmas Day event or not, can come along at 4pm and take one.
“The original intention behind the food hampers was to ensure no food goes to waste and also to give an extra little gift to the people who come.
“However, it has recently come to my attention that there are actually a lot of people in Tywyn who are really struggling and often have to make a choice between heating and food and frequently go hungry.
