A CINEMA has achieved a top billing in a new round-up of the UK’s best independent picture houses.
Over 1,500 people recommended their favourite indie cinemas in a poll by The Guardian, with The Magic Lantern, Tywyn featured among the top 10.
The sparking review read: “Lovingly restored interior, small and super friendly bar and little box office as you enter. The seats are all from the original cinema and the sound is state of the art.
“The building dates back to 1893 and has been showing films since 1900.”
Mark Bond, a key figure in the committee which runs the cinema, said: “We bought the Magic Lantern seven years ago and it wasn’t in the best shape – now we’re in the Guardian’s top 10.
“Some really special people have made the Lantern a really special place. Happy days!”
