Young people from Aberystwyth schools went “on strike” again, for the fourth time in as many months, in protest over a lack of action on climate change.

The latest event, hosted by Youth Strike 4 Climate Aberystwyth and XRYouth Aberystwyth, was held on Friday, 21 June, with previous events seeing more than 200 people gather to protest.

The events – always held on Friday afternoons – have seen pupils from Penglais and Penweddig schools, as well as students at Coleg Ceredigion leave school to attend.

Youth Strike 4 Climate Aberystwyth said: “We strike to demand the government take real action on the climate crisis.

“We will continue to strike until real action begins to happen.”

The event on Friday saw the protest gather outside Aberystwyth railway station at 12pm before marching to the clock tower.

The youngsters staged a “die-in” protest outside Barclays bank, before marching to the Morrisons roundabout.

The last stop at the Ceredigion council and Welsh Government buildings, saw protesters picket outside until 3pm.
