HIGH-FLYING fundraisers from Lampeter are “jumping” for joy after raising £1,300 to help to tackle loneliness and social isolation in local communities.

Terry Coussens and Gareth Packer, from the Co-op food store in Bridge Street, jumped from a height of over two miles to raise funds for the Co-op’s charity partnership with the British Red Cross.

Terry said: “It was the first time either of us had ever taken part in such a challenge – it was something I have always wanted to do and raising money to tackle social isolation was a great reason to do it.

“We were extremely nervous, but it felt amazing afterwards with an incredible sense of achievement.

“We would like to thank everyone who has encouraged and supported us.

“Loneliness and social isolation can affect people of all ages and backgrounds and can be found in all types of communities – in fact, a cheery chat in the local Co-op may be the only conversation that some people in our community have all day.

“The Co-op’s work with the British Red Cross will help to confront the impact of such isolation which can be felt by people all around us.”
