The Tregaron community has come together to offer support to those affected by coronavirus crisis.
The local community have decided to offer their time and services to those who are isolating or quarantined in Tregaron due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The town council invited representatives from the local community to discuss what could be done to help the community during the crisis, before the town council meeting on 16 March.
It was decided that the Tregaron ward would be split up into 16 parts, and each section would be allocated to one of the 16 people who attended the meeting.
It was decided that a letter would be posted through the letter boxes of all the residents of the ward.
On the letter the representative in charge of the specific ward would write their name, their phone number, where they lived, and jobs they were willing to do to help for those who are self-isolating.
The tasks they can perform are: picking up shopping, posting mail, a friendly phone call, or picking up urgent supplies.
Cllr Catherine Hughes, who has been at the forefront of the efforts, told the Cambrian News that they found the letter online. The letter has been circulating as part of a global campaign.
Cllr Hughes said: “As a county councillor for the Tregaron ward, I thought we needed to do something locally.
“So, we put up a notice on Tregaron Facebook page to say that we would set up a committee or forum to discuss what we could do.”
Eleven town councillors, two local reverends, the chair of Drovers Wheel, and a member of the local fire brigade attended the meeting and volunteered their time for the cause.
Cllr Hughes said: “We’ve had more offers of help since. So if somebody does ring me and, for example, I can’t go and help, I always know somebody who can.”
She added: “We’re covering all parts of Tregaron, even the rural areas. We had to print around 500 letters.
“I have already had messages asking for help through Facebook messenger, but not everybody is on social media. That’s why we decided to go for this letter.
“This letter covers everybody. We will be shopping locally, and local shops have offered their assistance. We’ve got the wheels in motion so if somebody contacts us, we can point them in the right direction.”
