An environmental project has been set up aiming to encourage people in Criccieth to recycle more.

On Saturday, the Criccieth Environmental Group organised a community event to promote recycling in the town.

The theme of the event was ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle' and the group provided a number of interesting and innovative ideas to raise awareness of sustainable living.

A guest speaker, Lizzie Wynn from Off-the-Wall-Wales, gave a presentation on Sustainability in the Community, a well publicised initiative which is becoming increasingly vital to reducing environmental impact.

The talk was introduced by David Cassells, secretary of the Criccieth Environmental Group, who encouraged all attending to take on board the ideas and contributions.

The group was launched last year as a result of the Criccieth Community Plan.

This was the first event of its kind in Criccieth and feedback suggests that it was positively received by people of all ages, including youngsters from the local Starlight Players.

In future the Environmental Group want to encourage more participation from the local community and are planning to introduce other initiatives of this kind.
