Senior Citizens
ABERAERON Senior Citizens meet at 1.45pm on Thursday, 17 January, in Peniel Vestry.
The speaker will be Gay Evans and her talk is entitled ‘From Calibra to Ceredigion’. All welcome.
Bridge club
DYLAN Raw-Rees and Mike Fellows were first on 10 January, closely followed by Mike Jones and John Valentine in second position with Dawn Claxton and Sally Davies third.
They successfully used an extra table system to accommodate two stationary pairs in a movement with only one stationary pair.
A Two Spades doubled and redoubled found the doubler with AKQ of spades.
The contract just made for a score of 840!
The previous day, the improvers went through the need for entries to establish long cards by ruffing (trumping).
In an example set of hands, the only way to make the 12th trick in a Six Spades contract was to spot at the outset planning stage that one had to ruff with intermediate value spades, preserving the 2S to use as an entry to the 3S.
Aberaeron Bridge Club meets in the Royal British Legion Hall each Thursday at 6.40pm.
Newcomers are welcome.
Afternoon tuition for beginners and improvers is being held on Wednesdays starting at 1pm in the Royal British Legion Hall.

Memorama
SOME tickets are still available for the Memorama production of Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw.
It will be performed this week from Thursday, 17 January to Saturday, 19 January, at the memorial hall at 7.30pm.
