ABOUT 30 members met at the British Legion Hall for their May meeting, and president Eleanor Evans welcomed everyone including two new members, Louise Hadley and Carrieanne Wilkins.

Leslie Jones from Abermeurig, and Sue Barrett from the WI have started a challenge for the NFWI Centenary in 2020, to attend 100 Welsh WI meetings.

Eleanor suggested that Aberaeron WI should collect 100 pairs of old spectacles for their centenary challenge and this was immediately decided upon.

All the business matters and the Newsletter were completed, including details of the trip to the Wickedly Welsh Chocolate Factory in Haverfordwest and the WI garden party at TyGlyn Hotel.

Then Eleanor introduced the speaker, Donald Morgan, a flower arranger, who has won many competitions at the Royal Welsh Show, Chelsea Flower Show and many more across Wales and the UK.

With many amusing stories and jokes, he deftly arranged four very different arrangements, giving many tips on keeping cut flowers fresh.

Six arrangements were raffled among members, and the lucky winners were Sally Davies, Eleanor Evans, Sheila Evans, Gloria Davies, Christine Williams and Sylvia Williams.

Refreshments were served, and the vote of thanks was given by Sally Davies.

Donald chose the competition winners for an unusual bookmark who were Gloria Davies, Eleanor Evans and Judy Southgate.

The next meeting will be on Wednesday, 5 June, at the British Legion Hall, when Mererid Jones from Ceredigion County Council will talk about recycling, with the competition being a recycled object.
