Cymdeithas Aberaeron Society

THE AGM of Cymdeithas Aberaeron Society will be held in Tabernacl Chapel vestry at 6.30pm on Tuesday, 17 September.

The first in the new series of CAS talks will follow the AGM at 7.30pm, acclaimed poet Samantha Wynne - Rhydderch, a CAS member, who lives in New Quay will read and talk about her poetry.

Samantha runs a successful writers retreat. Her collection of work was shortlisted for the Welsh Book of the Year in 2009, the Roland Mathias Prize in 2013 and the Michael Marks Award in 2014.

In 2012 Samantha won Leverhulme Artist award at the National Wool Museum and in 2014 she was the Poet in Residence at the Dylan Thomas Boathouse and in 2015 won tan Arts Council Creative Wales Award to write the performance piece “Tango in Stanzas”.

Samantha has been the recipient of the prestigious Hawthornden Fellowship.

Bridge club

ABERAERON Bridge Club played in the Thursday session of the WBU simultaneous pairs, with all proceeds going the Wales Air Ambulance.

The session was also counted as this month’s round of the Barclay’s Bank Cup.

The winners were Gill Howells and Keith Bellamy (=5th overall), with John Valentine and Mike Jones second (11th overall).

Mair Harrison and Chris Dennis were third in the club with Dai Hayes and Jen Harris were better placed in the overall results.

Duplicate Bridge sessions for Improvers continues on Wednesday afternoons starting at 1pm.

Aberaeron Bridge Club will participate in the Mid-Wales Bridge Association’s Simultaneous Women’s Pairs (the Flaye Cup) and Men’s Pairs on Thursday, 12 September at the Royal British Legion Hall at 6.40pm.

Cynhelir ein gweithgaredd gyntaf ar nos Fercher, 18 Medi yn Ysgol Gynradd Aberaeron am 7.30yh pryd cawn gyfle i drafod a chymdeithasu.

Cynhelir y stondin blynyddol arferol yn ystod y nos. Ar y nos Fercher canlynol byddwn yn ymweld a’r ‘Egin’ yng Nghaerfyrddin. Edrychwn ymlaen i’ch croesawu at gangen frwdfrydig a chroesawgar.
