Window Spotting Competition

FIFTY-SEVEN shops and businesses are taking part in this year’s Window Spotting Competition.

In every shop window there is a picture of a ship, on each ship there is a different name - all the ships were built in Aberaeron.

It’s good exercise, combined with a history lesson and some Christmas shopping, what better way to spend your time?

The competition is open to all ages so get your walking shoes on and support local businesses.

The draw for winners will take place at the Community Christmas on Saturday, 30 November.

J R Evans the shoe shop has the forms or you can download them from the website aberaeron. info, click on Events and then Community Christmas where you will find the form which has all details of the competition on it.

Bridge club

CLEAR winners on 31 October were Mike Fellows and Sally Davies, with John Valentine and Mike Jones second and Keith Bellamy and Gill Howells third.

The club welcomed Gill Griffiths from Cardigan Bridge Club.

A 7 No Trumps contract on Board 19 was defeated by a safe lead which avoided giving a trick away to declarer.

Eventually, declarer has to concede a trick to a missing queen.

Aberaeron Bridge Club meets in the Royal British Legion Hall each Thursday at 6.40pm.

The club will play in the Thursday session of the Children in Need Simultaneous Event on 14 November.

Remembrance Service

ON Sunday 10 November, the annual Remembrance Service will be held at the memorial hall at 3.30pm. All are welcome to support this important and poignant event.

Friends of the Hall

THE Friends are organising a winter supper at the memorial hall in the company of acclaimed and award-winning local author Cynan Jones on Friday, 15 November, at 7.30pm.

This will include a two-course supper and a licensed bar is available.

Senior Citizens

ARWYN Williams gave an informative insight into a local card publishing company, Cardiau’r Dderwen, in the last meeting.

The next meeting is at 1.30pm in Peniel Vestry on Thursday, 14 November.

Vivian Evans will show pictures and talk about New Quay and enable them to ‘go up Snowdon sitting down’.
