PRESIDENT Eleanor Evans welcomed everyone to the meeting.
It was good to see Rosemary back and condolences were offered on the passing of her husband.
Eleanor also welcomed two visitors to the meeting and said she hoped they enjoyed the evening.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and agreed.
Slips were given out for the nomination of members for the next committee, and we have been asked to help serve tea and biscuits at the annual council meeting on 4 November.
A discussion took place about where and when we should book to have our Christmas dinner.
Eleanor went through the newsletter highlighting such items as the ACWW Lunch at the Llanina Arms on 20 October and the Winter Rally on 12 November.
In order to support the Climate Change Week a walk was suggested through Llanerchaeron.
Glen Johnson was our guest speaker for the evening, talking about his involvement with Cardigan Castle which started when he was a schoolboy.
In July 2003 he went back to the castle as an employee of Ceredigion Council to oversee getting rid of the vegetation.
His photographs showed the gradual progress made, clearing the parapets, the lawn, Castle Gate House and other areas.
Mr Johnson also spoke about the archaeological dig that uncovered foundations as well as articles such as arrowheads.
His talk gave us an insight into the uniqueness of Cardigan Castle with over 900 years of mixed history.
Linda Badham gave the vote of thanks.
Mr Johnson was then asked to judge the competition of a picture of a castle and Eleanor Evans came first with Anne Evans second.
Tea was served by Liz Owen, Jackie Jones and Linda Hughes, and this month’s raffle was drawn and won by Sylvia Williams.
Our next meeting is on Wednesday, 2 November at 7pm in the British Legion Hall.
Quiz Night
THE Memorial Hall annual Quiz Night will take place on Friday, 21 October at 7.30pm.
