WI
PRESIDENT Eleanor Evans welcomed everyone to the annual meeting. She also welcomed Brenda Wright, county chairman, as the WI advisor, and Linda Moore and Liz Tipping as tellers.
Eleanor explained that 12 names were required in the ballot for the new committee and lists were handed out for completion.
Eleanor then went through branch business, correspondence and the newsletter. Carol Grinszpan read the minutes of the 2015 annual meeting and there were no matters arising. Jacqui Thomas presented the financial statement.
Liz Owen was asked to convey our thanks to Gwynne Griffiths who is retiring as our auditor. A new auditor will be appointed by the new committee. Carol Grinszpan read the committee’s annual report.
Eleanor Evans then gave the president’s address using the letter M as her motivation. Brenda Wright gave her address to the members, during which she mentioned that Aberaeron had been voted the best town in Wales.She also asked Val Edwards to read her highly commended entry to the Lady Denman competition 2015 entitled Thoughts of a WI member in 2115.
Brenda introduced the tellers, Linda Moore, Ceredigion Council, who spoke about being a member of the Board of Trustees, and Liz Tipping, County Committee, who spoke about starting her training as a WI advisor.
When the lists were returned with the 12 names of the new committee, the members were asked to nominate the next president from six nominations. Neris Lloyd was voted in as the new president. Sally Davies gave the vote of thanks to the retiring president and committee, and Gloria Davies thanked Linda and Liz and wished Brenda well in her retirement as county chairman. Chris Williams won the raffle.
After all the business was completed, there was cheese and biscuits with port and sherry to provide a social end to the evening.
