Memorama

THE Memorama production for January is the ever popular comedy The Vicar of Dibley by Richard Curtis and Paul Mayhew-Archer.

It will be performed on three nights from Thursday, 12 January, to Saturday, 14 January, at the Memorial Hall at 7.30pm. Tickets available from the Box Office.

Cymdeithas

THE next talk in the Cymdeithas Aberaeron winter series will be in Tabernacl Chapel Vestry at 7.30pm on Tuesday, 17 January. Helen Palmer, the county archivist, will talk on the history of the Queen’s Hotel in Aberystwyth.

The Queen’s has been part of the county estate for many years and is now up for sale having housed council departments the police station and the magistrates court in its time. Whilst it has remained empty it has of course been made world famous as the fictional police station in the TV series Y Gwyll/Hinterland. A warm welcome is extended to all.

WI

ABERAERON WI held their first meeting of the new year in the British Legion Hall. President Neris Lloyd welcomed members and business matters followed. This year’s six resolutions were all read out by committee members and then votes were taken.

Guest speaker Rory McConnell was introduces by Neris. He is the pharmacist at Boots, Aberaeron, and he gave us a view of many changes over the last 20 years, and how many more services have been devolved to pharmacists from GPs.

He said that in future prescriptions will probably be sent directly from GPs. Medicines can now be delivered and information was given on support groups as well as flu vaccines, help and support.

The vote of thanks was given by Judy Southgate and the competition for a pestle and mortar was won by Karen Wright.

The next meeting will be on Wednesday, 1 February, when Gwawr Davies will give a talk on driftwood art.
