THE next in the series of talks is a change to the schedule due to the untimely passing of the original speaker. Michael freeman, the former curator of the Ceredigion Museum, has kindly agreed to step in. His talk is titled, ‘Landladies, Harpers and Guides: Providing Services for Tourists in Wales, 1770 - 1870’. Tourism has always been an important source of employment and income to us in West Wales and how the traveller was catered for over a century ago will no doubt be an interesting tale. All are welcome to come and listen in Tabernacle vestry at 7.30pm on Tuesday, 21 February.

Volunteer of the Year Award

Aberaeron solicitor Nigel Davies, is pictured receiving the Volunteer of the Year award at the Tennis Wales awards ceremony in Cardiff. A stalwart of Aberaeron Tennis Club for many years, Nigel is the father of Aberaeron mayor Cllr Rhys Davies.

Giving his reaction, Nigel said: “It was a huge surprise but nevertheless a great honour to have received this award by Tennis Wales.“I would, however, suggest that it is not only for my contribution but other past and present key members who have over the years contributed to the development and success of the tennis section of Aberaeron Sports Club – however the work goes on!”
