A welcome break in the weather produced a gloriously sunny and hot day on Saturday, 21 April for the annual Aberdyfi Golf Club Tournament in aid of the British Heart Foundation. As usual, the event, which is a major highlight of the annual fundraising events of the Tywyn, Aberdyfi and District’s local branch of the BHF, was well-attended.
First prize in the ladies’ event went to Dr Val Franklin, and first prize in the men’s event went to Michael Gibbons, with prizes being presented by the current ladies captain, Joy Riley.
After the tournament, Alison Williams of BHF was presented with a cheque for £400 by Aberdyfi Golf Club. A raffle run alongside the tournament raised £324 in ticket sales, and additional donations of £21.71 produced a grand total of £745.71.
Thanks were given by Alison Williams to Aberdyfi Golf Club and its members for their very generous and ongoing support to the British Heart Foundation.
Also to the numerous members, friends and supporters of the local BHF branch who donated the prizes for both the golf tournament and the raffle, including Rivington’s Outdoor Goods and Gift Shop, Tywyn, for a landscape print of sunset over Aberdyfi; Anna Wyszka, of Sunset Bay Lifestyle, Tywyn, for the beautiful canvas print of an Ordnance Survey map of the local area; Gallery Aberdyfi, for a print by local artist Glyn Davies; J R Baldwin/Spar Supermarket, Tywyn; and the Sweet Shop, Aberdyfi for vouchers; Myfanwy Roberts for a leather handbag, and the very many people who donated bottles of wine.
The BHF will be holding their next event, a craft fair, in Bryncrug on Saturday, 26 May (10am to 3pm). A wide range of arts and crafts will be on sale, with refreshments included in the adult admission fee. Everyone will be welcome and, as usual, there will be free admission for all children accompanied by adults.
