THE latest community news from Aberystwyth.
Postcard Club
THE members of the Aberystwyth Postcard Club held a successful ‘bring and buy’ meeting at the St David’s Church Hall on 4 April.
The next meeting on Tuesday, 2 May, at 2pm, will be at the National Library of Wales when they will have the opportunity to browse a selection of postcards from the vast Welsh collection.
During the visit the club members will be given an historical talk by the Curator of Visual Images, William Troughton. New members welcome.
Camera Club
EARLY April saw the group involved in two inter-club competitions.
They had mixed fortunes, winning the first against Builth Wells, but not doing so well in the four-way competition against Cardigan, Carmarthen and New Quay.
The standard of photography was very high, and they would like to congratulate New Quay (who founded this competition) on their deserved win.
An interesting talk and demonstration was given by Si Moore on the topic of High Key photography, which now seems much less of a mystery to several members.
The monthly challenge for April was held last week. The subject was ‘Squares’ and an interesting and varied selection of images was submitted. Tucker Church won the challenge.
This competition series is currently under review and the new season will soon begin.
With the competition series having been completed for 2016-17, the overall winner was Ian Titley, who was presented with the trophy for ‘Photographer of the Year’. Congratulations from all members to Ian.
