MEMBERS met at Canolfan Bro Tegid on Thursday, 13 April. The current president, Kath Hoyle, opened the proceedings by welcoming guests and members to the meeting which will possibly be her last before leaving the area.
The meeting was chaired by Beryl Roberts, vice-president, and February’s minutes were read out. It was noted that computer classes should be available in the near future depending on interest shown.
The St David’s Day quiz was different, enjoyable and successful. The minutes were passed as correct.
The following items were discussed: raffle tickets, National Flower Day, resolutions. Various other dates were noted.
A number of members had enjoyed a day in Barmouth at the spring council meeting. The entertainment consisted of children singing, talks about “pennies for friendship” and Welsh costume. It was noted that the Llandrillo branch was most successful in the presentation department.
The Jeanette Hudson’s clock, (past county president) was presented to Beryl Roberts in appreciation for all her hard work at local and county level. All members were sorry to learn that the Maes y Waen branch was disbanding. Hopefully, some members will join the Bala branch.
Beryl Roberts thanked all the members for their support and appealed for more to join Clwb Cant.
The guest speaker was Julie Rogers and her topic was ‘Illuminate’. She is deeply interested in stained glass. Her interest stems from her childhood when she was a member of a Catholic church possessing beautiful stained glass windows.
First it was a hobby but soon developed into a passion. She was an apprentice for seven years after college, eventually building a business organising courses and workshops in which weird and wonderful objects could be made.
Kath Hoyle gave the vote of thanks.
