AS usual, Bala WI held their monthly meeting in Canolfan Bro Tegid on 12 October.

Meirion was sung and the president, Beryl Roberts, opened the proceedings.

Newcomers were warmly welcomed.

Congratulations were extended to the darts team, namely, Cynthia, Millie, Kim and Annette for achieving second place in the county competition held at Bala Golf club.

The newsletter was read and attention was paid to all events listed. It was noted that Meinir, our county chairperson, would be visiting our next meeting.

Cynthia won the ‘Clwb Cant’ competition and the raffle in the county show realised £813.

Names were taken for the Christmas events competition to be held in Bala on 9 December.

The Christmas party will take place in the Golf Club on 13 November.

Competition to produce four shortbread biscuits: Mair V Richards adjudicated the competition adeptly.

Attention was drawn to the fact that several contestants were unable to count correctly, some shortbreads were overcooked, others were shapeless or not cooked at all.

There was a great deal of fun and laughter.

Results: 1 Eryl Roberts; 2 Cynthia Jones and 3 Beryl Roberts.

Ann Bufton was in charge of the Christmas Craft evening: The preparation was excellent.

In order to make a Christmas tree decoration she had supplied heart-shaped felt pieces, stars, glitter and shapes.

The majority were industriously sewing, sticking, cutting and chatting for a full half hour.
