THE Barmouth WI ladies and their friends played the bowling competition for the Netta Irvine Rose Bowl on Saturday, 5 August.
The weather brightened up and the 12 players enjoyed the matches in the afternoon.
The four semi-finalists were Sue Curme v Pam Payton and Lorraine Viney v Rose Martin, resulting in Pam and Rose going through to the finals. It was a close match with Pam being the winner.
Sheila Davies gave a lovely talk about her friend, Netta, after whom the competition was named. Jacqui, WI president, then presented the trophies to Pam and Rose, and also one to Lorraine for ‘The Best of the Rest’.
Photos were taken before going into the clubhouse for a lovely tea provided and served by the WI ladies, who were thanked by Pam.
Pam also thanked Ifor and his friends for organising and marking the matches so efficiently, making the whole afternoon run smoothly.
Six of the players celebrated together in the evening, and a good day was had by all.
