Holy Cross: Mass at 6pm on Saturday and 11am on Sunday with Fr Shaji Punnati.

Choir

The Moelwyn Choir conducted by Sylvia Ann Jones and accompanist Wenna Francis Jones were in concert at Betws y Coed on Friday evening with young soloists Awel Jones and Tomos Heddwyn Griffiths and Gareth Griffiths the compere.

The choir sponsored Ysgol Moelwyn’s Young Musician of the Year which took place this Wednesday evening.

On Friday it is back to Betws y Coed for another concert to be followed on Saturday evening for their annual dinner, again at Betws y Coed.

Clwb Cerdded

Bydd aelodau Clwb Cerdded Stiniog yn cael penwythos yn ardal Bannau Brycheiniog yr wythnos yma a’r gobaith ydi bydd y tywydd yn ffafriol iddynt.

Police

PC Delyth Edwards and PC Emma Jones addressed a recent council meeting where it was stated that illegal parking is still a problem locally as are the motorcycles on the Moelwyn range and other places, with land being churned up and gates and stiles being damaged.

The Police Rural Crime Team now has drones that makes it easier to catch offenders.

Baltic

The Chair and vice chair of the town council have signed the Pen y Bryn, Cae Baltic transfer lease thus bringing the land to the town council’s ownership.

Library

On Friday between 3.30pm and 4.30pm there will be a Father’s Day Crafts for children whilst the adults can enjoy some board games at the library.

Next Wednesday there will be Colouring for Relaxation from 10.30am till 11.30am and from 10am till 1pm on the same day, there will be help with tablets and computers.

Retirement

Last weekend, Martin Jones closed his Electrical Equipment shop at 13 High Street after 21 years there in the business. Looking back over the years, he thanked his loyal customers for their support who in turn wish him a long and healthy retirement, well earned.

Darts

The local men’s darts team just missed out promotion to the Division 1 of the Gwynedd Super League finishing their season in third place.

Angling

The Cambrian Angling Association will stage two competitions at Morwynion Lake this month.

The first is an open event for juniors and seniors on Sunday, 17 June between 10am and 4pm with the juniors competing for the Sgotwrs Nid Llosgwr Cup, and then on Friday evening, 22 June between 8pm and midnight the juniors will compete for the Roy Bellringer Cup, the seniors for the J O Davies Salver and the fly fishermen and women for the R T Jones Memorial Cup.

Bowls

Dafydd Hughes and R Elwyn Jones were members of the Gwynedd Veterans Bowling team that beat the Clwyd side both at home and away with both players winning their matches.

Dafydd Hughes also played in the last 16 of the Welsh Veterans Merit event winning one match before losing in the quarter final.

On Saturday, the under strength Blaenau Bowling team were beaten 9-3 in a North Wales League A match at Colwyn Bay Legion, their winners being Aled Owen, Stephen and Gareth V Jones.

They have two matches this week. On Thursday, they take on Bangor in a four home and away Gwynedd Cup second round tie and they are home to Llanfairpwll in in a league match on Saturday.

Archaeology Society

THE BRO Ffestiniog Archaeology Society recently held its AGM at Y Ganolfan at which the following officials were elected: chairman, W T ‘Bill’ Jones; vice-chairman, Evan Dafydd Roberts; treasurer, Peter V Jones; secretary, Ronwen Roberts; committee, Dafydd Jones, Avis Reynolds, Mary Jones, and Mel Thomas (press officer).

The AGM was followed by a summary by Mel of the work done by Cofio Cwmorthin Remembered on its project in the cwm which will hopefully be completed this summer.

The society is currently running a dig at Llys Dorfil in Cwmbowydd which has another month or so to run.
