THE council has accepted a quote of £1,858.85 from North Wales Fencing for a fence for the Bowling Green at the park.
Cymdeithas Bro Ffestiniog
THE English section of Cymdeithas Bro Ffestiniog members had a meal out as their January meeting and on 14 February, Dr Ian Brooks will give a talk on Two Excavations in Edwardian Towns: Porth Mawr Caernarfon and Conwy Vicarage Gardens.
The meeting will take place at 7.30pm at the community centre.
Defibrillator
JUST after a new defibrillator has been installed outside the Moelwyn Pharmacy comes the news that Cllr Annwen Daniels had proposed a notice of motion at the town council December meeting that the money the council made from the winter festival raffle goes to buy defibrillators for Tanygrisaiu and Manod.
This is to be discussed further when the council sets their precept for 2019/20.
Siop Siarad
THE next Siop Siarad, the local social group for Welsh speakers and learners, will take place at 11am at the Bridge Café on Saturday, 26 January.
All are welcome to come along for an informal chat.
Planning
THE town council has permitted the following planning applications: 1. Conversion of former office building in Park Square into four self-contained apartments; 2. Construction of a two-storey rear extension at 3 Tanygrisiau Terrace; 3. Change of the former Seion Chapel Vestry into a holiday let.
The council has also agreed to a planning application for the construction of a two-storey residential dwelling with associated facilities at Llwyn Peris, Cae Clyd.
Angling
IT won’t be long before the new angling season gets underway but, before then, the Cambrian Angling Association will hold its annual general meeting which will be held next Monday, 28 January, at 7pm at the WI hall.
Choir
MOELWYN Choir members were among other choir and group members, namely from the Bro Dysynni and Ardudwy choirs and Meibion Prysor, who took part in a special anniversary event which took place at Harlech on Sunday.
Also present were the Royal Welch Fusiliers band and drummers as it was their regiment’s 140th anniversary of the regiment battle against the Zulus.
There was a practice session held at Harlech hall in the morning before the main musical renditions were performed before an appreciative audience inside Harlech Castle in the afternoon with the choirs conducted by Aled Morgan Jones.

Congratulations
THE town council has congratulated the organisers of the G?yl Cerdd Dant, which took place last November, and Ysgol Moelwyn, for a most successful event.
Sports
BLAENAU Amateurs FC were beaten 5-4 on penalties after extra time at Llangefni in a Mawddach Cup tie and Bro Ffestiniog XV were beaten 51-5 against Bala at Dolawel.
This Saturday the Amateurs are away at Glan Conwy and Bro are home to Mold.
