Dentist
COUNCILLOR Glyn Daniels has reported that he had received news from Eirian Lloyd-Williams, manager of the Canolfan Goffa Ffestiniog that the health board intend to appoint a full-time dentist to serve the Ffestiniog and Dolgellau areas.
Bowling club
THE local bowling club opened their Section A of the North Wales Coast League season with a 7-5 defeat at Craig y Don and their winners were Martin and Barry Hughes, Emlyn Williams, Adam Hyde and Stephen Jones are away again on Saturday at Fron Park, Holywell.
Stephen Jones and Mike Burgoyne recently took part in a open doubles competition held at Connas Quay where they won through to the final before narrowly losing to a Chester pair.
Summer festival
HAVING received an application from the G?yl Car Gwyllt organisers to hold a summer festival in the park on the provisional date of 12 to 14 July, the town council is to arrange a meeting with them and residents of the park area to discuss this as soon as possible.
Cymdeithas Bro Ffestiniog
THE English section of Cymdeithas Bro Ffestiniog’s last lecture of their programme will take place at the community centre this Thursday evening at 7.30pm when Steffan Ab Owain will give a talk on ‘Blaenau Ffestiniog 100 Years Ago’.
Prior to it, at 7pm, they will have their annual general meeting.
Fun day
ON Good Friday a fun day will take place on the High Street between 11am and 4pm when there will be an Easter bonnet parade, tea and treats marquee, foot plate rides, arts and crafts activities, Easter egg hunt, various entertainment, tombola and raffles stalls and much more.
Trains
BY all accounts it will be well into the summer before the trains will be running on the Blaenau Ffestiniog to Llandudno Vale of Conwy line following the damage caused by the recent flooding of the line.
Bus services are in place till the normal train service is back on track.
It has been reported that the minister for economy and transport, Ken Skates, has visited Vivarail to see the new trains which are due to be in service across north Wales which includes this Vale of Conwy branch line but when passengers will be able to get on them looks quite a long way away.
Library
THERE is a variety of free events at the library this month with the exhibition by Sian Owen coming to an end on 16 April.
On 17 April there will be a Digital Support session from 2pm until 4pm and an Easter Crafts for children, confined to 10 spaces, from 3.30pm to 5.30pm.
On 24 April, there will be story time for the Under 5s from 10.30am to 11.15am.
Also on 24 April, there will be an opening and talk of the exhibition by Remy Dean from 5pm.
Planning
THE town council permitted two planning applications the first being to change of use of the former post office at Tanygrisiau to form part of adjoining dwelling and external alterations.
The other was alterations to front of Bryn Gwyn, Tanygrisiau. As for the planning applications to convert the Market Hall into 14 flats and the construction of three new bike trails by Antur Stiniog these applications are to be discussed in the council’s Amenities Committee meeting.
