Town council
THE Town Council has co-opted Geraint W Parry of Dorlan Werdd, Ffestiniog, as councillor for the Cynfal and Teigl ward.
Musician
A TOTAL of 21 musicians took to the stage in 12 different acts for this year’s Musician of the Year competition held at Ysgol y Moelwyn last Tuesday evening, with Wendy Jenkins as the accompanist.
This event has been staged there since 2012 and the compères for the evening were Cadi Humphreys and Chelsea Jones.
The audience was treated to a variety of musical renditions before the adjudicators Leri Roberts, Garwyn Murray and Steven Evans were to announce the winner, who was soloist Gemma Williams.
In joint second place were other soloists Hanna Evans and Emily Evans.
Joint third were the musical duo of John Totty and Sion Edwards and soloist Eva Smith.
The Moelwyn Male Choir was thanked for supporting the event by giving prizes to the first three in the competition - which they have kindly been doing for many years.
It was the choir’s chairman, Idris Roberts, who presented the winning plaque to soloist Gemma Williams.

Planning
THE town council has supported a planning application to construct a flat roof extension at the rear of Ferlas, Wynne Road, with a balcony.
And they have also supported an application for a single-storey front and rear extension at 1 & 2 Bodychain, Tanygrisiau.
On the application to convert Neuadd y Farchnad into 14 flats, the town council cannot make a decision on this application until full information has been received.
Youths
THE town council was contacted by Gwynedd Council’s youth community work leader requesting a meeting to discuss the situation of the youth club. It was agreed that the leader could meet their amenities committee, but before that meeting the town council would need information on the number of young people who use the club and on which nights.
It is also asked that an update on what activities/projects the young people take part in is provided.
Clwb Cerdded

Bench
HAVING received a letter from the residents of Tai Dolawel, Rhiwbryfdir, asking for assistance to get a bench outside the building, the town council has agreed to install a plastic bench there with the town council logo on it.
TV
THE town’s slate history will be the main feature on this Friday evening’s S4C show Codi Pac, which is presented by Geraint Hardy.
He will be seen visiting the town before going to Llechwedd where his father and grandfather both worked in the quarry. He will also be seen at the various tourist attractions in that area. The programme can be seen from 8.25pm.
Wall
AFTER being informed that a wall had been demolished and a barbed wire fence had been erected at Cae Baltic, the town council has recommended to re-erect the wall and remove the barbed wire fence.
School
CLLR Annwen Daniels has reported that Tanygrisiau school was willing for a defibrillator to be sited on its premises and that a new entrance will be created to the school to protect the pupils from the risk of a possible accident due to the parked cars near the present entrance.
