HOLY Cross: Mass at 6pm on Saturday with Fr Shaji Punnati.

Library

A DIGITAL support session is available every Wednesday at the library from 10am until noon and prior booking is needed to attend.

On Fridays, a break time, which includes board games and colouring to relax, will be there between 10am and 1pm and 2pm until 4pm.

On Friday, 27 September, there will be a Health Hub and ICAN, which is a health and wellbeing advice session.

Also on that day from 10am until 1pm, Gwynedd Mindfulness taster session and will available but a prior booking is needed to attend.

Choirs

THE Moelwyn Male Choir resumed their concerts after a short break as they were at Betws y Coed on Friday evening, conducted by Sylvia Ann Jones with accompanist Wenna Francis Jones and the compère was Gareth Griffiths.

They will be there again on 13 September and on the following day they have been invited to sing at Glan Conwy during a 80th birthday celebration party for a former RWF veteran.

The town’s other choirs are back in rehearsals after their short break they being the Brythoniaid Male, Rhiannedd y Moelwyn Ladies and the Mixed Choirs.

Bowls

THE bowling club had two North Wales League matches last week, the first was a 5-5 draw at Bangor on Thursday evening but the hosts had the better average scorers and the Blaenau winners were Adam Hyde, Martin and Dafydd Hughes, Mike Burgoyne and Aled Owen.

Then on Saturday they were hosts to Rhos Park A who are contenders for the league title but the 9-3 defeat they suffered does not help their chances of being champions.

The Blaenau winners were Martin, Barry and Jason Hughes, Richard Elwyn and Stephen Jones, Mike Burgoyne and Aled Owen.

This Saturday they have a tough match at Min y Don, Old Colwyn.

On the previous Sunday, a well-attended charity match between the club a team from the D&C Contractors which was held locally and which Blaenau won and the hope is that this will become an annual event.

Gallery

THE Art Festival exhibition, which has been on display at the Maenofferen Gallery, is to end this month and admission to the gallery is free during the library’s opening hours.

Later this month it will be replaced by a Quarry Girls exhibition which will have an opening on Wednesday, 18 September and it will be there until 29 October.

Canolfan Lles Tan y Maen Wellbeing Centre

THE community garden is an ongoing project, set up jointly by the Church in Wales, Tan y Maen Wellbeing Centre and CAIS (Drug & Alcohol counselling).

The aim of the community garden is to contribute a healthy lifestyle by providing fresh, safe, affordable herbs, fruits and vegetables, helping to relieve stress and increase a sense of wellness, also to bring the community together and to get people active, which improves overall physical health.

A barbecue was held for the opening of the garden to thank all who had been involved with the preparation of the project.

They are looking for volunteers at the centre and with the garden project.

Men’s Shed is a communal space for men to connect, converse and create.

The main activity is upcycling furniture and the Mens Shed are also a big part of the gardening project, but it’s mostly for groups of men to interact together.

The groups help reduce loneliness and isolation, but most importantly, they’re fun.

The Men’s Sheds are held on a Tuesday and Thursday at Tan y Maen from 10.30am to 1.30pm.

There are also washing and drying facilities.

Room hire from £30 to £50 per day.

Camera club

THE camera club’s new season starts next Wednesday, 11 September at 7.30pm and will be held at the Ganolfan and old and new members are welcomed to attend.
