Council
A PROPOSAL has been made to transfer all the money left unspent from the Blaenau Ymlaen account into the Ffestiniog Town Council bank account.
Upon transference any existing and unfinished financial obligations will be honoured and discharged.
The money is to be used for the enrichment of the town centre with £400 already been spent on two slate plaques and there’s £1,923.52 credit left in the account and the proposal was accepted by the council. The council has decided that the cost of £50 per week was expensive to hire a room from the Community Centre Management Committee to store paperwork and to ask them if £30 per week was acceptable.
The community wifi equipment has been installed on some of the buildings but the council needs clarification if it is live or not.
Archaeology society
THE recent talk was by Iwan Parry of Brython Archaeology Cyf., who described some of the revelations made by his company who conducted professional exploration of the Wylfa B site and on the Llangefni link road.
Archaeologists digging on the site of a new road in Anglesey have unearthed an ancient cemetery and a 1,500-year-old “time capsule”. Some 48 early medieval graves have been discovered on the Llangefni link road site. The “cist” graves each hold several bodies, alongside jewellery and French pottery.
Archaeologists used DNA techniques to discover whether the group are related to modern Llangefni residents.
Following an initial survey of the site by Wessex Archaeology, Brython took on the full dig remit based on their findings.
As with the Llangefni site a host of graves of excellent preservation were discovered from different eras as well as the remains of early settlement.
Full details will eventually be made public but the Society were very grateful for this insight into the findings.
Iwan has promised to take a look at Llys Dorfil for the group when his time allows.
The next meeting of the society will be this Thursday at Y Ganolfan at 7pm for 7.30pm.
The talk will be by Rhys Mwyn, who will be giving a talk entitled ‘Archaeology and Art’.
The talk will be bilingual.
Admission £2.
