TRYSTAN Pritchard (the chief executive of St David’s Hospice), Jane Emsey (the Gwynedd and Anglesey palliative care lead nurse), and Dr Jones, BCHB attended a town council meeting where Trystan Pritchard began by thanking the residents for their support.

He went on to explain that St David’s Hospice had started a service at the Blaenau Ffestiniog Memrial Health Centre offering bereavement counselling, as well as counselling to the patient and carers.

Jane explained that there is a palliative care nurse at the local Memorial Health Centre on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month for half a day to help manage symptoms.

Dr Jones explained that this is the first time such a service has been set up within the BCHB and she hopes to build the service on this framework.

Trystan asked if it was possible to get local volunteers to greet people at the door and sit with visitors in the waiting room and so on.

The council thanked the three for their visit and the council noted that it would assist with the recruitment of volunteers.

Evening enjoyed by everyone.
