Cymdeithas y Gorlan
BU cyfarfod nos Lun, 7 Tachwedd yng Nghapel Calfaria.
Rhoddwyd croeso i’r aelodau gan Janet Roberts a dymunodd wellhad buan i Ceinwen ar ôl ei damwain. Croesawyd y gwr gwadd, Steffan ab Owain, a cawson noson ddifyr, drwy help y lluniau, yn crwydro llwybrau’r fro.
Cychwynodd ar Bwlch y Gorddinan (y Crimea i ni), a gafodd ei greu rhwng 1842 i 1852, ac ei ail-wneud yn 1864. Ymlaen wedyn at y llwybr cam, wedyn i lawr am Cwmbowydd.
Dangosodd sleid o fodrwydd o’r canol oesoedd a oedd wedi ei darganfod wrth y llwybr, bu hen ddyfalu am leoliad rhai o’r llwybrau sydd erbyn hyn, naill ai wedi diflannu, neu wedi newid i ffyrdd bach, fel Ffordd y Meirw, sydd rhwng Ceunant Sych a’r Llan, ond gobeithir fydd defnydd yn dal yn cael eu gwneud ohonynt er mwyn eu cadw.
Taliwyd y diolchiadau gan Robin Davies, a cawsom paned cyn troi am adra.
Bydd cyfarfod nesa yn Bowydd ar 5 Rhagfyr, am 7yh, pan ddaw Geraint a Neris Roberts o Trawsfynydd atom gyda Naws y Nadolig. Croeso cynnes i bawb.
Charity
IT is barely an year since Ceinwen Jones of Penybont, Tanygrisiau, opened the former Siop Dan on Blaenau High Street as a community charity shop.
Since then, thanks to the generosity of its donors and customers, she has been able to donate £1,000 to the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Liverpool, which has provided care for many children from north Wales over the years, including some from the Blaenau area.
The work at Siop Dan is carried out voluntarily and Ceinwen said that with the valued support, she will continue donating to the worthwhile charity and other charities.
In the meantime she has received a letter from Clare White, chief executive of the Alder Hey Children’s Charity, thanking here for the amazing donation, and saying that the support is very much appreciated and the money raised will be used to give the young patients and their families the best possible care and support.
