Sports

AFTER their home game against Pentraeth last Saturday, Blaenau Amateurs open 2017 with a home Welsh Alliance Division 2 match against Llanfairpwll. The Reserves are away at Menai Bridge Tigers in a Gwynedd League match. Bro Ffestiniog XV have a tough away fixture at Nant Conwy on Saturday. Having recently won a darts competition at Llangefni Heber Thomas has also won the monthly darts competition held at The Nevill’s Llandudno.

Band

ON Thursday, 22 December, the Oakeley Band under their conductor John Glyn Jones were accompanying carol singing at St David’s Church. A section of the band had formed a singing party singing some items and there were Bible readings from young members of the band, namely Hedd Jones, Sara Wynne and Awen Puw. A welcome address, prayers and the blessing were offered by the Reverend David Brownridge and proceeds of the collection on the evening were donated to the Wales Air Ambulance.

Gallery

THE exhibition by the local Craft Group led by Stephen Owen which has been on show at the Maenofferen Gallery ends there this week.This will be followed by an exhibition of a range of works in mixed media by Catherine Rose Hannan Hession and will be on view from 13 January till 24 February. Admission to the gallery is free during the library’s opening hours.

FOLLOWING discussions between the town council and the company that will be supplying the new flag pole, it has been stated that it will be possible to get a plate that will enable the council to use the old bolt holes so that there will be no defect on the pavement at Diffwys.

Advice

THE representative of the Citizens Advice Bureau will be available at the library on Monday mornings between 10am and 1pm to deal with any relevant questions one might have.

Planning

THE town council has permitted the following planning applications 1. Construction of a new building with associated parking spaces on land by Y Ddôl, Tanygrisiau to serve as a base for the South Snowdonia Search and Rescue Team 2. Erection of a porch at Bryn Wennol, Cwm Teigl, Ffestiniog and 3. Application for the provision of a terrace/balcony, provision of additional door and roof windows at Stwdio Sbench, Bethel, Ffestiniog. Regarding an application to erect of one affordable dwelling on land by 8, Maes y Coed, Ffestiniog there was no objection but there were some concerns and points raised on this one.

BORE Sul, 18 Rhagfyr bu gwasanaeth Nadolig plant Ysgol Sul y Bowydd. Darllenodd Lowri ac Awel Stori’r Geni a plant Alyssa, Awel Medi, Eirliw, Gwendolyn, Gwenlli a Malan yn canu ac actio wedi ei gwisgo mewn dillad addas i oes Crist. Yna roedd stori gan Mrs Humphreys a Wenna Francis Jones oedd y cyfeilydd. I ddilyn darparwyd lluniaeth gan athrawon yr Ysgol Sul a’r rhieni.

Y mis canlynol daeth yr aelodau at ei gilydd ym mwyty Isallt i ddathlu’r Nadolig. Mwyn-hawyd cinio ardderchog, a diolchwyd yn gynnes i’r perchnogion am eu gwaith caled yn paratoi gwledd o ddanteithion. Dymunwyd Nadolig Llawen i bawb, gan gofio’n arbennig am Don, gwr Nerys, oedd newydd dderbyn triniaeth ar ei benglin. Bydd y cyfarfod nesaf yn ôl yn y Ganolfan Gymdeithasol ar 23 Ionawr.
