Youth Clubs

Having discussed a notice of motion by Cllr Annwen Daniels and which was seconded by Cllr Elin Roberts that read “That the town council sets aside money within the precept for next year, if necessary, to support the local youth clubs in the future”, the council resolved that further details will be discussed during the meeting to set the precept this month.

Toilets

The future of the Diffwys public toilets was discussed with a representative from Gwynedd Council where it was stated that their yearly running cost is £9,704 with the town council contributing £4,000 so that they remain open throughout the year with the Welsh Government contributing £2,912 towards their maintenance.

It was asked whether it would be possible to extend the opening hours during the summer months and also to have the special windows illuminated.

The town council has recommended to consider whether it has an interest in running the toilets again when information is to hand regarding the costs of installing a 20p machine and information about either taking over or running the Diffwys car park in partnership with Gwynedd Council.

Clwb Cerdded

Trees

Snowdonia National Park Authority is to give the council a grant of up to £100 for buying more apple trees as the council intends to plant them within half a mile of the park boundary.

On that topic the council has agreed to a request from Y Dref Werdd to work together for the future to try and plant trees in Bro Ffestiniog.

Gallery

The Maenofferen Gallery hosts a variety exhibition of the craft work by the author and artist Remy Dean until 13 January. Admission is free during the library’s opening hours.

Lights

The Council spent a sum of £15,073.56 on the Christmas lights payable to Blachere Illuminations and several business had given permission for the lights to be installed on their premises.

Elected

Councillor Glyn Daniels has been elected to represent the council on Cwmni Cymunedol Bro Ffestiniog with Cllr Mark Thomas elected to be their representative on the Manod School’s Board of Governors.

Bus service

With several complaints having been received regarding the failure to get the Clippa bus service up to Talwaenydd, Cllr Ronwen D Roberts presented a notice of motion at the town council meeting which asks Cyngor Gwynedd to consider getting the Clippa to go to Talwaenydd a few times a day when agreeing their new tenders.

This would benefit the people of that area as well as the Llechwedd workers and visitors and this motion was agreed by the council.

Appointment

Following the retirement of John Roberts as the town council internal accounts auditor the council has resolved to appoint the Internal Audit Unit at Gwynedd Council to take over the post.
