Advice

A REPRESENTATIVE of the Citizens Advice Bureau will be at the library between 10am and 1pm on Mondays ready to deal with any issues one might have and no appointments are needed to attend.

Choir

THE Moelwyn Choir, conducted by Sylvia Ann Jones and accompanist Wenna Francis Jones, were in concert on Friday evening with soloists Awel Jones and Tomos Heddwyn and the compere was Gareth Griffiths.

GWR gwadd cyfarfod Clwb Merched nos Fawrth oedd Ken Parry o Manod. Cafwyd cyd-arlunio “Ecostic Art”sef arlunio gyda wacs a haearn smoddio. Roedd yn noson greadigol i’r aelodau a fentrodd ar y dasg.

Gwesteion y te oedd Eirlys, Valerie, a Chris a rhoddwyd y raffl gan Bet a’r enillydd oedd Chris.

Croesawyd Maureen fel aelod newydd i’r clwb a da oedd gweld Cerys yn ôl ar ôl cael llawdriniaeth a Mary wedi gwella.

Meeting

AT the recent local Rivers Trust meeting Lee Oliver of Keep Wales Tidy reported their work in controlling Japanese knotweed and outlined their SUDS project in which they work with Welsh Water and other organisations.

They have also been working with schools to raise awareness including workshops and hope to do more of this work in future and he thanked the Dref Werdd volunteers in help in this project.

Donna Evans of Welsh Water was also present and outlined the key point of Welsh Water’s Workload, explaining that the team is split into two sectors, Risk and Delivery (risk being an assessment, to control the quality of the water and delivery which deal with individual cases).

She outlined the relevant statistics of the areas they work with, and what they hope to achieve in terms of water quality.

Water

PCSO Delyth Edwards has asked the town council to write to Liz Jones at the rugby club thanking her for her kindness in providing the elderly and the vulnerable in the area with a hot meal on Sunday, 4 March when there was no water supplies in the town and the Council resolved to do so.

Planning

THE council had no objection to a planning application to erect an extension to create a new self contained holiday unit, together with the conversion of the existing buildings into three self-contained living units at 2-3 Market Square.

The description of application has changed.

Regarding the re-submission with some amendments to previously refused application to demolish existing single storey extensions and erect two storey extensions to the side and rear of Ffynnon farm it was decided to discuss this application at a later council’s Amenities Committee meeting.

As for the application to erect a new two storey dwelling for local need at Gwaith Sett, Manod on an exempt site (amended application to previous application refused under reference number C17/0323/03/LL) it was refused.

Camera

ANDY Polakawski from Mold was the judge for the club’s last competition of the season, the Annual Cups, with Rory Trappe being awarded a cup for the best print and Carl Senior won the cup for the best projected image.

A history of his photography was the title of a different and interesting talk given by John Roberts from Caernarfon.

He showed his early black and white images to present day large format transparency and digital images.

From 24 April an exhibition of the club’s members work will be on display at the local library.

International Women’s Day

THE town council has called for raising women’s awareness in general regarding the International Women’s Day.

Bowling

THE following officials were elected at the recent Annual General Meeting of the local Bowling Club namely: chairman - David Lloyd Williams; vice chair - David W Hughes; secretary - Dewi Moelwyn Williams; treasurer - Martyn W Hughes.

Committee - R Elwyn Jones, Elwyn Vaughan Jones, Geraint Williams, Barry J Hughes, Iwan Vaughan Jones and Mike Burgoine.

The club start their new North Wales League season with a home match against Bangor this Saturday.
