Senior Citizens
AT the meeting on 14 March, they welcomed Sarah Tudor who guided all in a session of chair aerobics, which was both enjoyable and good exercise.
During the meeting on 28 March, the group discussed giving a contribution towards the preparations for the Ceredigion National Eisteddfod in Tregaron in August 2020. The group voted to donate the proceeds from the Bring and Buy sale on July to the fund.
Members were informed of the Scarecrow Festival to be held over the Bank Holiday weekend and asked for ideas for the entry.
On August Bank Holiday Monday there will be a mobile festival held in the village entitled ‘Borth Begins’. They are looking forward to finding out more about this event.
Dave then introduced Dee Matthews who made a welcome return with a talk on the ‘History of Tattooing’. Photos of tattoos from around the world together with items that have been used for tattooing were passed around.
At the end of March, the honorary president, Ann Newby, passed away following a short illness. Ann had celebrated her 99th birthday at the end of January and was the oldest member of Borth Senior Citizens, joining during the mid 1990s. She had held the positions of chair, secretary and president over the years. She will be much missed by the group.
On 11 April, members visited Libanus for a showing of the film ‘Stan and Ollie’ and on 25 April they welcomed Mererid from Ceredigion Council who brought members up-to-date on recycling with a very informative presentation.
At the next meeting on 9 May they will welcome back Helen Palmer from the Aberystwyth Archives.
