Exhibition in Iceland
A BORTH artist is to exhibit work at a top Icelandic gallery.
Work by Neil Johnson, a member of the Royal Watercolour Society of Wales, is featured in a prestigious exhibition in Reykjavik.
Neil, who is also a member of Borth Arts, has exhibited widely throughout Britain, including a solo show at MOMA Wales and he has work in private collections throughout the world.
Watercolour Connections is a collaboration between the Royal Watercolour Society of Wales and the Nordic Watercolour Society.
The work on show at Nordic House consists of a third RWSW, a third from Iceland and a third from the other Scandinavian countries.
The collaboration will continue in 2018 when work from all the contributing countries will be exhibited here in Wales.
When Neil publicised the exhibition on his Facebook page, within a few minutes, internationally renowned Welsh harpist Eira Lynn Jones, an old friend of Neil’s and originally from Capel Bangor, offered to play a concert at the exhibition preview in order to further promote Welsh culture, as she was in Reykjavik at that time.
Eira is a versatile musician, who has a passion for creativity and originality.
Her career ranges from orchestral work, recordings and commissions to chamber music collaborations.
She is known for her informative and engaging presentations to audiences.
Her recital, Watercolour Music, was inspired by the watercolour painting in the exhibition and included projected images of the work.
Watercolour Connections finishes on 10 December.
