Music

AN evening of music to raise money for a local good cause will take place at the Cellar Bar on Friday, 15 February. The Quay Street Band will perform to raise money for St Tydfil’s village church in Llechryd. “Our fabulous house band are going to make you want to dance the night away, with lots of rock and pop tunes from the last 60 years. On this occasion, we are trying to raise funds to help with repairs at St Tydfil’s village church in Llechryd. It’s only £5 and there will be a prize raffle; come and support this great cause and help protect our architectural heritage,”said band member and Cellar Bar manager, Steve Greenhalgh. Doors opens at 7.30pm.

Cardigan back on display

THE celebrated knitted Aberteifi cardigan goes back on public display from next weekend, hosted by the town’s new community creative space and café at Stiwdio 3 in the High Street. The giant cardigan – which was created to mark Cardigan’s 900th anniversary in 2010 – is celebrating its own anniversary this year - it’s been 10 years since the history group Aberteifi 2010 secured a Heritage Lottery grant to fund the creative community project. On Sunday, 24 February, cardigan designer Lisa Hellier will be in the gallery from 11am to 4pm holding a ‘hands-on TLC session’ for the cardi – open to everyone and with a special warm welcome for those involved in the original project 10 years ago. Aberteifi 2010 is hoping to win funding for a new town project - to create a companion piece to the cardigan. The project will also be about sharing creative ideas, sharing and learning new skills - no previous experience is required. “We are looking to broaden a new project out to involve as many people as possible,” added Lisa. The Aberteifi cardigan will be on display in the first floor gallery of Stiwdio 3, from 10am to 4pm and entry is free.
