Letter-Writing Party

CARDIGAN and north Pembrokeshire Amnesty International Group are inviting people to go along and drink tea and eat biscuits for human rights at their informal evening of letter-writing on Wednesday at Small World Theatre, at 7.30pm.

Sending a card with a simple solidarity message can bring comfort and hope to those suffering human rights abuses, and writing a letter to a government asking them to release a prisoner, end the harassment of human right activists or change an unjust law can help change someone’s life for the better.

Amnesty know from decades of campaigning that writing letters and sending cards does save and change lives.

So go along for a relaxed and fun evening, helping those in need, all materials provided.

RABI

THE Guildhall in Cardigan is the venue for a coffee morning supporting farmers in financial hardship.

The Ceredigion committee of the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution is staging the fundraiser on Saturday, 15 July, from 9am to noon.

RABI is farming’s oldest and biggest welfare charity, helping many families who have fallen on hard times through no fault of their own, due to such things as accidents, ill-health and animal disease.

In 2016, RABI paid out grants of £2.1m in Wales and England, including £36,899 in Ceredigion.

Frances Jones, chair of RABI’s Ceredigion committee, said: “Nothing RABI achieves would be possible without our fantastic supporters, who give up so much of their time for the cause.

“Although most of the assistance RABI provides is financial, that’s not all we do.

“We’ll put you in touch with other organisations that can improve your circumstances and we’ll walk with you on your journey.”
