Lantern parade

HUNDREDS of lanterns will be paraded through town for the Winter Giant Lantern Parade on Friday, 8 December.

Small World Theatre and Cymdeithas Aberteifi Society say they have been delighted by the community’s response to the National Lottery-funded event.

Families and community groups have created a beautiful array of lanterns which are set to light up the town at 7pm.

Crowds are again expected to line the streets to watch this year’s parade which is inspired by The Tale of Taliesin – a fitting theme during the Year of Legends in Wales.

Look out for the giant hare, hen, stag and many other magnificent large-scale lanterns.

Lantern-bearers are invited to Small World Theatre from 6.15pm onwards to collect and light their lanterns. Please make sure you have arrived by 6.30pm.

The parade will begin at Pendre and make its way through the festive streets to Cardigan Castle. There will be choirs and lots of Christmas cheer inside the castle before a firework display.

Shops will stay open until 7pm offering visitors and locals a chance to do some Christmas shopping.

This year, Creative Cardigan is showcasing a wonderful programme of events and special attractions during Festive Fortnight organised by community groups, creative organisations, artists and local independent businesses.
