THE latest community news from Cnwch Coch
Defibrillator
THE community has been well aware that the nearest defibrillator was too far from Cnwch to be of use if someone stopped breathing or had an irregular heartbeat.
Therefore, they applied to the British Heart Foundation for an AED and were successful, meaning they had to find £1,200 to pay for their share and also to buy a heated case for it to be held in.
Residents have donated what they are able to afford and donations have been received from the Fire in the Mountain festival, local Cymdeithas association and the community council.
With the help of the community council the disused phone kiosk has been adapted to house the AED and after a group clean-up session and the generous work of an electrician who didn’t charge for his services, the defibrillator was installed last weekend.
The community is committed to training as many locals to use it as possible and also to maintain it effectively.
A community bank account has been opened and a fundraiser planned for 30 June in a bid to raise cash for the annual insurance and to have a pot of money to replace pads and batteries as required.
A training pack from the BHF has been received and a training session organised for at least 16 people on 16 June.
