A GLITTERING awards do in Meirionnydd has recognised the vital work conducted by North Wales’ coastguard volunteers.
On Friday evening, several HM Coastguard members were awarded for their diligent service and excellent conduct at a suave awards ceremony in Shell Island.
Each of the recipients were lauded for their long service - at least 20 years for each member - and their faultless conduct over those years.
Area commander George Crumpler was thankful for the volunteers’ sacrifice. “I’d like to say a big thank you to all of those who have devoted their lives to help saving others,” he said.
“The coastguards across North Wales preform excellent work day in day out and we’re very grateful for their service.
“I’d also like to thank the families and spouses of coastguards as I know it’s never fun when a pager goes off at 2am on a Sunday morning.
“They couldn’t do their everyday work without your love and support and we’d like you to know we appreciate that.”
