Estyn report

STAFF and pupils at Ysgol y Preseli recently welcomed Meilyr Rowlands, chief inspector of schools at Estyn, to their school where he met with the Senior Leadership Team, school council and chair of governors.

Presentations were given highlighting areas of best practice at the school including standards and tracking, provision for more able and talented pupils, the Harvard well-being project and professional learning.

There was also an opportunity to discuss the views of the school regarding education matters in Wales.

“I very much enjoyed meeting staff and pupils at Ysgol y Preseli and finding out more about the school and its work,” said Mr Rowlands. “I was interested to find out for myself the excellent practice described in the Estyn inspection report and best practice case studies, in particular, using self-evaluation to challenge and nurture more able and talented pupils. I particularly valued the thoughtful presentations and would like to congratulate staff and pupils on their enthusiasm and commitment and thank them for the open, honest and helpful discussion.”
