Music Club
AFTER so many early obstacles (cancellation and a withdrawal) to contend with, the club could not have wished for a better start to the 2016-17 season than the one given in Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor on Friday, 4 November by soprano Joanna Norman, baritone Euros Campbell and pianist Beth Jerem. In a programme including songs in German, French, Italian, English and Welsh, both soloists showed mastery of a wide range of repertoire, and their attractive voices created a pleasing effect in every case. Beth Jerem’s accompanying was lithe and characterful, supporting the singers as needed, and making the most of passages for piano alone. Three duets added an extra dimension of vitality and colour to the seond half. The next concert will be a recital by Rhianwen Pugh (harp) and Rhodri Taylor (clarinet) in Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor at 7.30pm on Friday, 2 December.
