Cymdeithas Shiloh a Soar

Mae’n arferiad bellach i gychwyn tymor y gaeaf drwy gynnal Swper y Cynhaeaf ac eleni eto daeth tyrfa luosog ynghyd.

Yn ôl yr arfer trefnwyd pryd ardderchog o fwyd gyda gwragedd y ddwy eglwys yn gweini wrth y byrddau.

Y gwestai eleni oedd Gillian Elisa sy’n aelod yn Soar. Soniodd y llywydd Huw Jenkins am gefndir Gillian ac am y nifer o sioeau y bu’n cymryd rhan amlwg, gan gynnwys Y Graith, Belonging ac wrth gwrs Billy Elliot yn y West End

Cyflwynodd portread byw o’r cymeriad bywiog a doniol Mrs O T Thomas sydd wrth gwrs wedi ymddangos ar y sgrin deledu ar sawl achlysur. Cafwyd ganddi hefyd hanes ei bywyd lliwgar a’i rôl mewn cymaint o sioeau a dramâu dros y blynyddoedd.

Cafwyd hefyd rhagflas o’i dawn fel cantores. Gwerthwyd nifer CD o’i chaneuon, ond rhoddodd y gwerthiant i gronfa’r capel.

Twynog Davies ddiolchodd ar ran y gymdeithas ac yntau wedi cael y fraint o weld y sioe Billy Elliot.

Bydd y Gymdeithas yn ymweld â Theatr Felinfach ar 9 Tachwedd i fwynhau noson deyrnged i Aeron a Grett.

Church service

St Peter’s Church – Sunday, 18 November, 8am, Holy Communion in English; 10.30am, Morning Worship (Bilingual), with Sunday school for children.

Ramblers

THE last walk in October, led by Chris and Teresa, features in Ceredigion’s Paths for People – Community Walks booklet, and follows through broadleaved wooded stream valleys and quiet country lanes in the Llanarth area.

By way of the footpaths through Goitre to Motygido, a house of historical interest, and along the wooded Afon Gido valley, we reached the little hamlet of Dolau and the busy B4342 to New Quay.

After a short stretch the route turned to follow through Coed Allt Cefn Maesllan, managed by the Woodland Trust.

Following recent storms, many trees had been blown down onto the footpath making our going quite an obstacle in places!

The first walk in the new autumn and winter walks programme was a seasonal autumnal visit to the Hafod Estate in the Ystwyth Valley near Pontrhydygroes, led by Colin.

They followed over seven miles of tracks and paths through the estate at a perfect time with the streams and waterfalls at their best.

Bridge club

THE bridge club had a good evening recently, the top positions being filled by: 1 Andrew Phillips and Dai Hayes 63 per cent; 2= Keith Bellamy and John Evans 54 per cent; 2= Martin Davies and Gwenda Davies 54 per cent.

Have you played much whist? If so you’d make an ideal new member for the bridge club.

The play of the cards is identical. The bidding decides which pair plays the hand – even picking their own trumps!

Why not try it? They meet every Tuesday at 6.46pm at Hafan Deg Retirement Home.
