Rambling

FOR those who enjoy an amble ramble without steep hills and about a couple of hours of leisurely walking, then you are welcome to join the Ramblers on Tuesday, 24 September, for a stroll in the Llandeilo vicinity.

There is the opportunity to visit the digitally imaged medieval Llandeilo Fawr Gospels, closely related to the Lindisfarne Gospels, and Ffynnon Sant Teilo sacred well.

Another fabulous stretch of the Glynd?r Way from Llyn Clywedog as far as Aberhosan was enjoyed on Saturday, 14 September, a glorious early autumn day.

From the Afon Biga picnic site our way headed through the Hafren Forest and over open moorland with good views over Southern Snowdonia.

The area is dotted with the ruins of former mineral mines which were closed by the early 20th century but today provide attractive mountain routes.

Crossing over Penycrochbren, or Gallow’s Hill, where Sion y Gof met his grisly end for the murder of his wife and children, they passed Llyn Glaslyn and the highest point on the trail where spectacular views awaited over to Cardigan Bay.
