THE latest community news from Llanbadarn Fawr
St Padarn’s
ON the morning of Friday, 28 July, it was the end point of a story walk for Musicfest Fringe, from the Arts Centre down to the church.
The event was to tell the story of Mr Salter and the music of Llanbadarn.
Local storyteller, Peter Stevenson led the walk and Deuair, Elsa Davies and Ceri Owen Jones, fiddle, harp and two voices, performed medieval music in church from 11.30am to mid day.
The weather, however, was far from kind with only a small audience of which only a few undertook the walk with most getting to the church by car.
Deuair’s recital was something very special and with the wonderful acoustics of Llanbadarn Church beneath the Crossover, the duo produced an ethereal experience which those attending will long remember with great pleasure.
Last Saturday’s Service to celebrate the lives of Donal Greaney and his wife Enid Greaney, saw many members of the Llanbadarn Community packing St Padarn’s.
The ecumenical service was led by Canon Andrew Loat, assisted by a Father from the local Catholic Church.
Next Sunday, 6 August, is the eighth after Trinity and the first Sunday of the month and services will be as normal, and are: 8am, Holy Communion using the 1984 Red Book setting; 10am, Boreol Weddi; and 11.15am, Choral Matins.
All are welcome to services.
