Community council
A MEETING was held to discuss and adopt various policies for the council, such as a language policy, equal opportunities policy, environmental policy, standing orders and local resolution protocol.
The freedom of information policy and social media policy are still ongoing.
Only one tender for cutting the cemetery and footpaths was received from Eifion Roberts, and was accepted.
Unfortunately the council has had numerous complaints regarding the overgrowth of grass in the playing field. This work will be going out to tenders.
Gwynedd Council matters arising: the grass cutting of the verges should commence around 21 June, starting on the side roads and then to the county roads.
Other matters that have been reported to the Gwynedd Council is the growth of Japanese knotweed in the ditch opposite Bron Meini, and also on the footpath alongside the river by the parking area (old dump).
Concerns have also been raised once again regarding speeding on the road leading into the village on the northern side.
For information, the census strips which were installed last October by Ty Gwyn showed the average vehicle speed to be 36mph, with 15 per cent of vehicles exceeding 41mph, and five per cent exceeding 46mph.
North Wales Police is concerned about these numbers and will be taking some action shortly.
The community council has written to Gwynedd Council stressing for more signage and emphasising that there are no pavements on the side of the road, and that, as a community, have been fortunate that no serious accidents have occurred.
Work is still ongoing with the footpaths and woodland schemes.
On 5 July at the war memorial there will be a ceremony to commemorate the 100 years of service of the RAF. This is organised by Gwynedd Council.
Once again, this year the community council is looking forward to working with Year 9 pupils from Ysgol Ardudwy on their activity week.
Some suggestions have been forwarded to the principal, such as clearing the area around the tree at the playing field and scattering wildflower seeds, and planting flowers either side of the village in the Huchenfeld troughs.
Another suggestion is to spruce up the public convenience building at Llanbedr by painting the external walls.
The next meeting will be at 7pm on 5 July.
