Plas Glyn y Weddw

PIANIST Tristian Evans has recently gained a coveted distinction award in the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music’s highest diploma, being admitted a Fellow of the Royal Schools of Music after performing at St Paul’s School, London in July.

He will celebrate his success by performing the music of French composer Maurice Ravel at Oriel Plas Glyn y Weddw, Llanbedrog, on Sunday, 4 December, at 3pm, concluding with the virtuosic Gaspard de la nuit, which is arguably one of the most challenging works in the whole of the piano repertoire.

Tristian said: “It will be a pleasure to perform within the ornate gothic surroundings of Plas Glyn y Weddw. Much of Ravel’s piano music, written at the turn of the 20th century, was influenced by the visual arts, history and poetry; here in Wales, Plas Glyn y Weddw became an art gallery exactly at this time, having served as a dower house for the previous 40 years or so.

“This venue will therefore be a perfect backdrop to the music I will be playing, both in terms of its historic architecture and artistic background.”
