THE group has had varied and interesting meetings over the past few weeks.
The new programme started with a visit from Dee Matthews, who is a tattooist in Borth but came to talk to members about her life as an airline pilot.
Dee was the 31st woman to gain a pilot’s licence and she found it very hard to be accepted as a woman pilot while flying the large planes and so on.
Dee is such an interesting person that members felt as if they could go on listening to her for hours.
They then visited Aberystwyth Arts Centre to see Cinderella which they all agreed was great, as they have come to expect from the productions at the arts centre.
They paid an afternoon visit to the Blue Island Ceramics in Borth, which was very popular with the ladies.
They each chose a piece of pottery, painted it and left it to be fired in the kiln, and everyone was very pleased with the results.
The St David’s Day meeting was held at Pennau Craft Centre where members enjoyed a cawl and apple tart lunch.
Charlie Falzon paid them another visit in April, talking about a trip to Chile he made alone, tracking over mountains, and then meeting up with friends going in search of beavers who were doing a lot of damage to the trees there.
In May, the group visited the local fire station.
There are many more interesting speakers lined up for the future months.
