THE latest community news from Llandysul
WI PRESIDENT
Anne Morgan opened the meeting at the Tysul Hall on Thursday, 5 September, welcoming members.
Following the reading of minutes and usual business, Anne opened a discussion on a suggestion by the committee to reduce the number of committee members with some of the lighter tasks being shared amongst the remainder.
A vote was taken and it was agreed to reduce the number from 12 to 10, starting from the new committee being voted for in November at the AGM.
It was also agreed that some posts on the committee e.g. treasurer, would be beneficial if they could be continued by the same member longer than the current time.
Entertainment for the evening was a mock Loose Women, as seen on TV, event with the panellists being the ‘Loose Men’ of Llandysul: Rhodri James from the Porth, Gary Reynolds, the butcher, John Jones (Cloggs) and Brian ‘Teify’ from the Kings Arms pub.
Each panellist was asked to bring an item with them and speak about it, followed by a question and answer session which revealed some very enlightening information and humorous stories about them.
How many of us would think of keeping a huge plastic syringe for 40 years which helped to save a cow?
That clog dancing on the QEII for two weeks would open up years of business opportunities?
The Porth’s secret ‘Dancing Queen’ also wants to learn Italian? Being a past martial arts champion meant serving in the butchers with two black eyes most of the year.
It is amazing what you can find out from just a few questions in such a short time and we all very much enjoyed having the chance to ask each of them.
A vote of thanks was given by Daphne Jones.
The competition for the night was - ’A bow tie’, 1st prize won by Judith Roberts.
Members were reminded of various up and coming events including the dolphin spotting boat trip on Thursday, 19 September, at 11am, leaving from New Quay; and a fashion show by Bon Marche, Bronwydd Hall on Friday, 27 September.
The next meeting will be in the Tysul Hall on Thursday, 3 October, at 7.30pm.
