MEMBERS and friends gathered for the annual mystery trip which ended up a stone’s throw away from their usual meeting place!

Very few people had visited the location, although many knew of its existence.

Denmark Farm in Betws Bledrws is celebrating 30 years since its origin on a much smaller scale.

Originally, Denmark Farm had a large acreage of over a hundred acres and employed two farm servants annually.

It was owned by the Derry Ormond Estate until sold, but is now owned by the Shared Earth Trust where emphasis is on conservation, nature and leisure pursuits.

The centre employs two full-time organisers, part-time workers and volunteers are always welcome.

A brief history of the venture was held in a classroom which was originally a cow shed.

Many of the old farm buildings had been either demolished or converted into other outlets such as holiday chalets, a kitchen and offices.

It was also possible to undertake a short walk before a lovely tea was served.

There were several raffle winners.

The vote of thanks was voiced by the president Janet Farrow to all who had contributed towards the success of the outing and especially to Sally Davies for its organisation.

The next meeting will be at Ysgol y Dderi on 4 May at 2pm when Sian Davies is expected to give a talk on chiropody.
