Medieval history
Dr David Stephenson’s classes in medieval history are set to resume at the start of October.
This term’s topic will be ‘Ten Medieval Lives’. Each of the 10 two-hour classes will focus on the life story of a person of significance.
Classes will be held in The Mount Inn on Tuesdays at 7pm and on Wednesdays at 2pm, from 2 and 3 October.
Rotary quiz
WEDNESDAY, 19 September saw rival teams from Llanidloes Rotary and Pwllheli Rotary battle it out in the most challenging quiz of recent years.
At half time Llanidloes were just four points ahead but then in the second half they stormed ahead to a 55 to 40 victory.
Coffee morning
THE coffee morning held by Llanidloes Rotary Club in aid of Guide Dogs for the Blind on Saturday, 22 September, raised over £200.
Rotary president John Selwyn Smith warmly thanked everybody who supported the event and the Old Mill for providing the venue.
Noah’s Ark Concert
THE next concert to raise money towards the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Appeal will be held at the Rugby Club on Friday, 12 October, starting at 7pm.
Veterans
WERE you or any member of your family past or present in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Land Army, Home Front, Merchant Navy, National Service or Army Cadets?
The Ladies of the British Legion would like to ask for photographs (in uniform if possible) of those in Llanidloes who have served during the last 105 years, as part of the #TurnOurTownRed for remembrance celebrations.
They ask anyone to please put a name and few details on the back of the photo or on a separate sheet. Drop off or send to Woosnam & Davies News, for the attention of Trudy Davies, 40/41 Longbridge street, Llanidloes by 4 October.
