Lovelight Christmas concert

THERE will be a concert at St Idloes Church at 7pm, on Thursday, 12 December.

Sing with Us Llanidloes Choir, Harriet Earis (harpist) and Llani String Quartet will entertain at this celebration to support everyone affected by cancer and to remember loved ones lost.

Book signing

ON Saturday, 7 December, there will be a book signing with local author Alexandra Ford.

Alexandra’s debut novel, What Remains at the End, tells the largely undocumented story of Yugoslavia’s ethnic Germans.

It considers what happens when the truth goes unspoken, and asks how it can be recovered, if there is anything left to recover, in the face of so many secrets.

This takes place at The Great Oak Bookshop at noon.

Film club

ON Thursday, 5 December, at The Old Mill, at 7.30pm the film Séraphine (France 2008) will be played.

The film is based on the life of Seraphine De Senlis, played by Belgian actress Yolande Moreau.

She begins to paint whilst a maid in a small town north of Paris and is driven by a fanatical passion to express her divinely inspired visions using the experiences of her rural upbringing.

Discovered by an art critic, her paintings and reputation flourish extraordinarily, until she loses control of her life and her mind.

The last film before Christmas, The Dressmaker, will be shown on Thursday, 19 December.

It will start again in the middle of January 2020.
