Compton’s Yard Charitable Trust

LYNN Marsh and the other trustees of Compton’s Yard Charitable Trust wanted to thank everyone for their participation and promotion of the coffee morning for Compton’s Yard Charitable Trust held on 16 November at Chatwood.

A total of £194 was raised through donations and raffle.

It was a most enjoyable morning meeting people and explaining about the history of the Charitable Trust in Llanidloes. They managed to attract new members and a garden volunteer.

Rotary club

PRESIDENT Tim Chilton chaired the last meeting, and he started by welcoming Honorary Rotarian Trudy Davies.

The club is currently raising funds for a second defibrillator in the area in a joint venture with Woosnam & Davies Newsagents.

Other matters arising: Mike Catley informed the club that the Dictionary’s 4 Life have been ordered for next year’s year six students; membership chair said that there are currently 10 potential new members currently considering joining the club, and that Pam and Kristie Norris have agreed to become full members from 1 January 2020; international chair Ivan Evans proposed and the members agreed to purchase a ShelterBox.org designed to help a family of up to 10 who have lost everything; immediate past president John Selwyn Smith said that there are a number of events still to take place and that he was fast approaching his goal of £10,000 for the Guide Dogs for the Blind; secretary John Cradduck proposed that the club adds £75 to monies collected at a defibrillator training day and the Rotary 10k Fun Run making a total of £1,000 to be donated to Llanidloes High School for the new pupil support centre, which was agreed; Charles Cowan agreed to arrange the Christmas carol music under the town’s Christmas tree on Saturday, 21 December, while other Rotarians collect on the street for the Anthony Nolan Trust, who saved the life of one of their most valued members; finally, the treasurer said that they had received an anonymous donation of £500 which will be going towards the next town defibrillator.

They thanked their ‘friends of Rotary’ wished all a very happy Christmas and a wonderful new year.
